Display: Teen Tech Week

Display – Teen Tech Week

Teen Tech Week is an initiative of American Library Association’s Young Adult Library Services Association. While this is a US-based week of celebration, the concept and idea behind it is something I whole-heartedly support and think it is worthwhile celebrating in any library.

I love Teen Tech Week’s purpose: “to ensure that teens are competent and ethical users of digital media, especially the nonprint resources offered through libraries.” Celebrating the important collaboration between libraries and technology is awesome. You can find out more about the week and governance behind it on the YALSA Wiki.

Our display this year was bright and colourful, with pop-out lettering and a tetris background. We also had a range of activities happening throughout the week in our makerspace, a display of technology-related titles and a printout of 3D DNA origami from Emily Suvada’s website (she’s the author of the awesome This Mortal Coil).
